A COMMON MISTAKE: GOING TO A BIG BOX STORE FOR FLOORING
- The sales clerks are not flooring professionals
- They send out an installer to measure the quantities needed
- They do not visit the job site
- They are sometimes devious in quoting prices
- They basically say to a customer “pick out a flooring and we will sell it to you”

MY TYPICAL PROCESS
- I receive a telephone call from someone inquiring about getting new flooring
- During my visit I:
Explain the types of materials that will work well for them Show any pertinent samples that I have brought Take measurements Tell them what the common costs are for the various alternatives
- I interview them regarding the customer characteristics, site conditions, and what they want to achieve
- If they want to see any more samples, then I either bring more samples or I meet them at a flooring store
- A site visit is scheduled
- After the customer has selected the specific items and/or colors, I refer them to a well qualified store/contractor
